Itxaso Zuñiga
was born in (Terrassa) Barcelona, Spain in 1978. After
graduating from the EFFC School of Photography (Escola
de Fotografia of the UPC) in 1999, she studied photography
at the Westminster University of London where she completed
her final university project.
In 2000, she moved to
Bahamas where she worked for the US film production
companies Two Ocean and Talbot Productions as a photographer
and crew member for the documentary series Sail Away
and the film Ocean Men, respectively.
In 2001, she joined the
public affairs department of the French NGO Horizons
Pour Tous to work as a photographer and crew member
of the organization's eight-month sailing tour, which
took her from La Rochelle, France to the French Polynesian
Island of Tahiti.
Between September 2002
to June 2005, she lived in (Terrassa) Barcelona where
she worked as a free-lance photographer for Spanish
travelling and sailing magazines as well as a managerial
technician and instructor of photographic subjects at
the Laboratory of Photography of the Design and Photographic
Department at the University of Barcelona. During this
time, she continued producing photographic reports on
South East Asia and North Sahariana Africa.
Recently, she moved to Tokyo,
Japan where she continues to work as a free-lance photographer
for magazines and press agencies.
