Brief Presentation.
Born in 1978 in Terrassa (Barcelona) Spain, I took my first photos when I was 16. The camera has given me always access to new experiences, to other people’s lives and realities. This is what I find fascinating about being a photographer, it allows me to be visual storyteller.
After graduated from the EFFC School of Photography in Spain, I completed my studies in photography at the Westminister University of London in 1999.
In 2000-01 I volunteered as crew member for NGO’s sailing in the Bahamas and France. This gave me the opportunity to sail around the world from France to French Polynesia across the Atlantic and Pacific ocean through the Panama Canal on a 15m sailing boat with disable people on board.
The next 3 years, I worked as free-lance photographer for travel and sailing magazines in Spain and also as a teacher of photography and manager technician at the Laboratory of Photography from the Faculty of Fine Arts in the University of Barcelona.
From 2005 to 2010 I lived in Tokyo, Japan where I worked as a free-lance photographer for Japanese, Spanish and Hong Kong magazines and I collaborated with EFE Spanish News Agency. I have worked on assignment or my stories and photos had been published in the following medias: International Herald Tribune (JPN), El País Semanal (ESP), El Magazine del Mundo (ESP), Tokyo Calendar (JPN), Skyward (JPN), Esquire (JPN), Discovery (HK), Camera Magazine (JPN), Silkroad (HK), Departures (JPN), Tabi Gaku (JPN), GEO España (ESP), Altaïr (ESP), Action Asia (HK), Transit (JPN), Islands (US), Lonely Planet Magazine (ESP), Yachting World España (ESP) and others.
Currently I live in New Delhi, India where I keep working for Japanese and Hong Kong magazines.
Note: Itxaso is a basque name and it means sea.
